FREEDOM & TRUTHFULNESS
What freedom feels like...
FREEDOM & TRUTHFULNESS
This week’s yoga class theme: Freedom & truthfulness
There’s something freeing about caring less about what other people might think of you, and caring more about what feeds your heart. For me that’s creativity, passion, connection and purpose.
This pose is a heart opener, it’s called ustrasana (camel), I reckon it’s a brill brill way to connect with your heart and ultimately your truth. We all have that little flickering pilot light in our chest, and it’s our job to fan that flame, and help it become a wildfire. That’s where passion and purpose often get their fuel. Think about it; when you’re doing something you love, time stops. It’s like you could be doing it for hours and hours and have no idea where the time’s gone. Versus doing a job you dont like, you know the one I’m talking about, the one that pays the bills but your heart’s not in it. So it’s up to us to have the courage to spend more time doing the stuff we love, and less time doing the ditch-digger jobs that only waste our time and take use further away from our passion and purpose.
I also reckon living with an open, truthful and honest heart won’t ever let you down. It’s one of my favourite poses to help people open their hearts and live truthfully from at space.
SATYA in Sanskrit means “truthfulness” so here’s my take. You want to feel a sense of freedom? Then live with an open, truthful heart. Hold yourself accountable to relentless honesty. And go after the stuff that fans that flicker of a flame in your chest, turn that flame into a wildfire, and start right now.
Righto, there’s my yogi philosophical musings for the week.
Big love,
Lola

Oh Lola, how wonderful to have found your Substack, particularly these whispers and reflections with yoga and our breath.
Reminds me of long ago at a little hot yoga studio in Ascot Vale .
